My Triathlon Journey
My triathlon journey started at the New Forest Triathlon in 2012, and it was far from glamorous.
I came dead last.
By the time I reached the finish, the inflatable finish line had already been deflated and packed away. Most people had gone home. A volunteer was waiting for me with my medal and a bottle of water.
And somehow, from that moment, I was hooked.
What could have felt like a failure became the start of something much bigger.
Triathlon taught me that success is not just about where you finish. It is about showing up, keeping going, learning from every race and finding out what you are capable of.
Over the years, that first finish line led to bigger goals, better structure and a lot of lessons along the way.
In 2023, I competed at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, something I never could have imagined when I crossed that first finish line in the New Forest.
That journey is a big part of why SBR Triathlon Coaching exists. I know what it feels like to be a beginner. I know what it feels like to feel out of your depth. And I also know how powerful it can be when the right support, structure and belief start to come together.
My aim is to help everyday athletes start where they are, build confidence and enjoy the journey whether their goal is to finish their first triathlon or take on something much bigger.
